Home Crush: Athena Calderone's Amagansett Home
Athena Calderone’s Amagansett beach house is true perfection. My favorite part about her style is that she doesn’t just check the box on recent trends. She puts deep thought into what she loves and incorporates vintage pieces that prove to be timeless. The light colors with dark accents work incredibly well.
Athena originally had her home photographed in 2018 for her book, Live Beautiful that was just released. After that, she embarked on a bit of a refresh. This refresh proved to be so stunning that Architectural Digest did a feature to highlight her work. She mentions that she loves interior design so much because although the architecture in her home barely changed, she feels like she’s living in a whole new space. It truly is amazing what new furniture and design can do to a home.
Athena converted a large wall niche, that was once used for firewood, into four separate compartments to add in different objects that she can constantly update.
There are a few pieces in her new home that I cant fail to mention. These are vintage finds that I am utterly obsessing over. Take a look at this unbelievable 1960’s bamboo armchair. I can picture sitting there with a coffee, reading a book and relishing in the comfort of the home.
Lastly, I want to chat about Athena’s kitchen. The new, light materials in this space give it an earthy feel. The light green color she included is almost spa-like. And can you believe that this is Ikea cabinetry that has been refaced? You would never know. What a great way to save time and budget.
I am absolutely blown away by this project. Athena’s style is beautiful and I look forward to seeing more of her projects come to life!
