Home Crush: Classic & Contemporary Houston Home
Hi everyone! Happy Monday & Happy Home Crush! Today, we are taking a look through this stunning newly built Houston home designed by Marie Flanigan that perfectly blends classic and contemporary style. Marie describes the home as being all about “juxtaposition,” with its “Mediterranean-inspired” elements mixed with “contemporary details.” Come take a look!
The owners and designer achieved a modern “old-world” feel by using traditional architectural elements such as the stone flooring seen above and mixed it with contemporary details like the steel-frame doors.
The plaster walls mixed with the tall, arched, steel-frame windows create such an airy, bright space. It is layered, yet uncluttered, mixing antiques with the new.
This room is such a vibe. The black walls, wood coffered ceiling and basket weave floors create such a moodiness.
Flanigan says her favorite room of the home is the kitchen, and it might be mine too! I can’t get over the layering of materials in this space. I love how she brought in the lighter blues to contrast with all the natural, organic colors and warm wood tones. The vintage travertine hood surround is incredible and such a focal point of the room.
I am obsessed with that headboard!! The softness of the draperies is so inviting.
I just love the arched ceiling in this master bath.
I hope you all loved this week’s Home Crush and found it just as beautiful and inspiring as I did! Have a great week! Xoxo
