Project Reveal: Friend Residence - Kids' Rooms

In the fall of 2022, Tiana and Cody Friend allowed me to transform their semi-custom spec house into the home of their dreams. As I reveal this project, you will see that the details, found in every inch of the house, bring it to life.

I want to start things off with the cutest parts of the house- the kids bedroom! The clients wanted each of their children’s bedrooms to reflect their individual personalities; the spaces turned out better than I could have ever imagined! The number one challenge with designing children’s spaces is choosing elements that reflect their youth, but that can transition with them as they grow. Therefore, each room features specialized wall treatments and furniture that can easily be adapted into other styles as they age.

Reagan, the oldest sibling, is the cutest 8-year-old ever! She loves the color blue and can sing along to any Taylor Swift song. For this space, I gave Reagan a slipcovered bed in her favorite color and made it pop against a pretty yellow wallpaper. I finished this space off with an elegant chandelier and bedding that features a more muted color palette.

Tanner is a baseball-loving boy who adores anything sports-related, especially if it involves the Yankees. In his bedroom, I chose a rich hunter green for the wall color and paired it with dark wood tones, sleek clean lines, and leather details. The soft stripes and button embellishments on the bedding add an overall softness to the room, creating a timeless bedroom space for Tanner.

Tori, the middle daughter, is full of sass and spunk. When I saw this green gingham print, I knew it would be perfect for her bedroom. I paired the wallpaper with a bohemian fringe chandelier and a brightly colored statement rug. The sconces on either side of the bed feature a wicker shade and may be one of my favorite details of her room. All of these pieces come together to curate a bright and funky room, one that matches Tori’s personality perfectly.

Last but certainly not least, we have Zoe’s room. Zoe is the youngest sibling. At 2 years old, she has finally graduated to a “big girl” bed; BOY, was she excited to see the fun bed I chose for her! Zoe loves her red cowboy boots so I knew I had to incorporate them into her room, the artwork I chose did just that. I paired the fun artwork with shiplap walls and rattan furniture pieces to keep the space feeling fresh and simple.
